Bear on the Square

Last weekend, my husband and I drove up to Dahlonega, GA for the 14th annual Bear on the Square festival. It is what they call a "mountain festival" which highlights bluegrass music, folk art, from my experience, really good lemonade. I was kind of skeptical at first about what the whole day would be like, but we ended up having a fabulous time. Dahlonega is such a cool mountain town. There are antique shops galore, places where you can pick up rocks and gold found in the mines, and the most decadent smelling chocolate shop I have ever been in. All that on top of the festival vendors and arts and crafts tents... I was in heaven. I can't wait to get back up there to check out all the stores I didn't get to see and to drive through the mountains again... and maybe eat at the Smith House (*hint hint*). :)

Here are some pictures from the event!

  1. cute cute- love the pics, Jo! Makes me want to go hit up some chocolate!! :D Hopefully you'll come north again in the fall and hit up the Apple Festival and Sorghum Festival and Marble Festival... and... any other festivals. :) You outta drag Rick up to Blue Ridge one Saturday and just walk around down-town. There's a fudge shop that is heavenly.
